In September 2014, Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) entered a new era of Pavement Asset Management by contracting with AgileAssets for a new Pavement Management System (PMS). The new PMS, based on the AgileAssets® Pavement Analyst™ module, augments TxDOT’s current asset management suite that includes previously implemented AgileAssets Maintenance Manager™ and Facilities Manager™ modules. With these major modules, TxDOT is well equipped to attack it’s nearly $30 billion list of highway needs and to effectively invest the approximately $4 billion in new funds expected in the next two years. They will receive, beginning in 2016, yet another $1.5 – 2 billion from vehicle sales taxes in the 2017-2018 time-frame.
TxDOT expects to kick off a year long pilot in five Districts with their AgileAssets PMS in September 2015 using a SaaS (Software as a Service) subscription model. The AgileAssets software is being tailored to meet TxDOT desires for detailed mapping displays of pavement details and condition. For the last several years, TxDOT has been using the AgileAssets Maintenance Management System to manage their $1.4 billion annual highway maintenance budget covering over 250 maintenance residencies statewide. .
Stay tuned as this amazing story unfolds over the next few months.
