About the Speaker

Thomas Zimmerman is a 38-year veteran of the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT), where he currently serves as a Planning Director in the Asset Management Program Office. Since 2015, he has been one of the key leaders in the development and deployment of MnDOT’s Transportation Asset Management System. Prior to his appointment to the asset management effort, he spent three decades in MnDOT’s Operations Division, supervising and managing maintenance operations at the district level. His areas of focus include pavement management and preservation as well as systems development and data analysis to improve decision-making.
